Hi, I'm having a tough time even after numerous tries (past counting) getting template-based (not prim) shoes to come out right. I'm trying to follow the UV guides on Chip M's (thanks Chip) and at a distance they look fine, but up close....ugh! Cant get rid of the choppy edges and the heels are the worst. I don't know whether i'm not looking at the UV guides correctly or what the problem is. Good thing i can view these in the preview window or I'd be spending hundreds of Lindens to upload. These are the best I could get them: http://quaesa.tripod.com/slshoes/Maybe someone has a guide to know exactly which lines and shaded areas to cross and not cross. Thanks

i think the textures deform or strech more as you add heel hight I make prim shoes now because of this. but you could put a grid over your texture and see where it streches they paint along that line. -LW

Im not even a designer but i knew there was no way around it. LL gave us good but basic tools *in world* and the best detailed shoes are always the primmed ppl have come a marathon regards to prims i remember only 3 mths ago big ugly chunky prim shoes, now they are dainty and pin heeled Its some-thing i WISH there was a class for....i love making miniture anything. shoes would be awsome...i 'think' they make them big them shrink? dunno I know thats how hair curls are made...sorry..am i rambling here?

Thanks for the input people,
I guess i'll just use "textured" shoes for low-shoes only, cuz the textures do stretch with horrible results the more i heighten the heel. For high heels i just buy prims...LOL

I think the important points here have been pretty well covered, but I did want to add one more. It's a good idea to lay some colors over chip's UV map so that each line is a unique color, and then upload the texture. That way you can see exactly what distorts where when it's on the av. High heels will always be a problem, but you can greatly minimize the effect by knowing exactly how the UV's fall on the particular foot shape you're using. If you have any questions on what I mean, let me know.

Thanks Chosen, I tried uploading Chip's template and have my av wear it on her foot so i could see where the lines pull etc, didn't think of doing it by adding "unique" colors to it first so i don't go blind trying to figure out which line is which. It looks quite different on the av than just laying flat in photoshop.. Like when i was learning to make "undies", what a laugh! I must have done that one nearly 50 times before it came out right. The avatar's body really warps that template in all directions. LOL...okay giving it a try....
