Hi,

Sure I know how a shapshot can be taken and send by email or have it downloaded to my disk.
Now I have this texture in my inventory which I uploaded some time ago. Unfortunately I deleted the file at my disk, so I like to download it again.

I checked this forum but could not find how to email it or to download this texture again. Pls help.

Sam.

Hi SamanthaJo.

You cannot download or email the texture in it's original form. You can, however, open the texture (double click) take a screenshot of it, paste the screenshot into PS and crop the texture out. I don't think there are any other way around. This is to avoid theft from original textures.

I have done that before. If you have full perms, double click the texture to open it. Open the file menu, and choose "Save Texture As..." Easy Peasy :)

Hi SamanthaJo.

Please don't steal textures in this manner (or in any other manner). Please respect the rights of the talented artist who labored to create the texture. If he or she did not see fit to grant you download permission, you have to live with that. You're free to contact him or her to ask for further permissions, of course, but if he or she says no, leave it at that.

Remember, when you purchase a texture (or any other item in SL), you're not buying the item itself, just a limited use license to it. The limits of your rights are defined first by the SL permissions system, and second by any additional licensing information the texture's actual owner may see fit to include. If you don't have a particular permission that you want, again, your recourse is to contact the creator and ask. If the creator is amenable, great, but if he or she is not, so be it. It's not your place to override the wishes of the copyright owner, just because you can.

Sure, it's easy to take screenshots, or to use any of a million other techniques, to take anything you want, but just because it's easy doesn't mean it's right, and just because you want it doesn't mean you get to have it. It's also pretty easy to walk into a grocery store, put a loaf of bread under your coat, and walk out. You wouldn't do that though because you know it's wrong. Well, capturing a texture for which you do not have permission, is equally wrong. Please respect copyright, and respect your fellow human beings.

For any texture for which you do have full permissions, all you need to do is what Mikki said. Simply double click the texture in your inventory to open it in the viewer, and then go File -> Save Texture As... If that option is not available to you, don't cheat your way around it. Once again, just because it's easy to do doesn't mean you should do it.
