I purchased a set of textures and paid 1550.00 L for this set. Almost all of the textures are unusable as they are right now. If I want to use them I will have to fix them in adobe then pay another 10.00 each to upload them back into SL I am not very happy about this and my suggestion to people that sell textures is to make the needed adjustments befor selling them. Use alpha channels on the ones that need them. If they are sold as these were please at least make others aware that adjustments will be needed to make them useable.

Lucie, what are these adjustments of which you speak? Are the textures grossly inadequate by anyone's standards, or are they just not quite right for your intended purpose? If it's the former, please explain in what way they're wrong. If it's the latter, then I'm sorry to say that's the risk you take when you purchase off-the-shelf textures. There's no way the artist can know in advance what you in particular want to do with each one. The best anyone can do is try to make textures that are as universally applicable as possible. Anything more specific than that would fall in the realm of custom work, not shelvable mass-market product.
So please give some more details here. I'd really like to know what you mean, and I'm sure a lot of other artists would as well.

They have marks around or through the texture itself. Some are not repairable at all. Some are of the design but cut in half. Some should have parts of the texture transparent and the designer must not know how to use a alpha channel because in those spots its solid white. About half are fixable while the other half is not. Most are a total loss due to what looks like spots all over the design. I do make textures myself sometimes so I do understand that sometimes weird things happen once a texture is in SL but this set is more than just a mistake or two. I jsut wanted to let the designers know that if something can be repaired please do it befor selling it. If it can't then it shouldn't be sold.

Lucie, I'm sorry to hear about your unfortune. You should send an IM to the designer politely explaining what's wrong and ask to have them fixed or to have your money refunded. If I were that designer, I would have done anything to help you, because just one unhappy customer is one too much. And soon they will be more...
Some people just steal textures from Internet and upload into SL to make some quick bucks. Not saying this is the case here though. Since you are not unfamiliar with texture making, perhaps you should just create your own?

Over L$1500 for unfinished product, wow. I'd be upset too. I agree with Lisbeth; talk to the desinger and see if he or she is willing to make it right. Just so you know, this sort of thing is what the "Open" feature that was added back in 1.6 or 1.7 is for. Before you buy an object you can open it to examine its contents. I've never bought any textures myself so I've never actually tried this, but I'd assume you should be able to preview textures before buying them by "opening" the sale box and taking a peak inside. That's how the feature was described when it was added, anyway. I'm not sure if it works with more than one layer of heirarchy though, so if you're buying a box inside a box, the contents might not be visible. I guess the lesson here twofold. To designers, make sure you actually finish a product before selling it, or people are going to be angry, and rightfully so. To consumers, don't buy anything sight-unseen. Even if the "open" thing doesn't work, there's no reason a seller can't put up a display of the textures he or she is selling. Just make a sheet showing all the textures in the package, watermark the word "sample" over the top to foil screenshots, and slap it on the box. I would recommend against anyone buying textures from anyone who's not willing to do something like this. You wouldn't buy a shirt without knowing what it looks like; the same should go for textures or anything else. Anyway, good luck getting it resolved. Hopefully the designer in question just made a mistake which her or she is willing to correct. I'd hate to think this was done deliberately. I'd be curious to know how this unfolds, so I hope you'll post what happens. Good luck.

I have sent a IM to the person that sold the textures 4 days ago and have not recieved a reply. I am fixing the ones that are fixable and deleting the others. Chosen Few you are the one that told me how to use alpha channels and since then I have been creating most of my textures but I do buy some here and there. I did not know you could view the contents befor buying. Hmmm you are full of useful information Chosen. But, it would not have worked with this set because it was several boxes inside a box. There are alot of GREAT texture designers in SL and I just wanted to make both sellers and buyers aware of this type of problem. Sometimes things are not known by the seller but when they know the product is not useable please just make the buyers aware so they know the products are unfinished and will need adjustments. In my situation I just feel the seller knew it because he has not even replied to my IM and that's ok too. I'm not that mad just a little upset with the "no care attitude" he seems to have and I wont buy anything else from him.

SOmetimes if a person is offline when an IM is sent they never get it because their box is full. He might care very much but be totally unaware of the situation.
