I know this is a noobish question (though i am a noob myself, i only started yesterday!) but how do i connect and disconnect objects? forexample, i have a car a can modify, and i want to take off the hood and remove the seats for my space ship, how do i do that? and how do i connect them to the ship?

Edit one of the objects, hold the shift key and click on the rest...once done hit CTRL- L (Shift-Ctrl-L to unlink)...

just be aware that when you unlink, you unlink everything. So if you link up a chair, then link up another one, THEN link the two chairs.... if you unlink, you will unlink everything. It won't remember "sub links"

It won't remember "sub links" You can unlink individual prims from a link-set, however. Just set the Edit window to 'select individual', choose your prim, and CTRL-Shift-L.
