Does anyone know the proceedure for making those sphere based objects that appear to have a black edge around them that can never be seen from directly in front?
I have messed with hollowing the sphere and colouring the inside black and the outside white, which does nothing once I close the hole up. Of course I then used black OUTSIDE and colour inside to no avail. Setting transparency CAN work to a degree except you can see through the edge depending on how close you are.
Apparently it is similar to cartoons and referred to as "Cell Shading".
After a few hours of headbanging I finally come to the conclusion there might be an external ALPHA saved into the texture before it is uploaded or something along those lines.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Consider using concentric spheres. Outer sphere is hollow, opaque black, and has an outer layer that's made transparent by a texture's alpha channel. The inner sphere must be smaller than the hollow part of the outer sphere so that you get the black line.

I know Torley used to have the tips for this, and I tried it and it worked. Sadly I can't find the list of what to do, but you could ask Torley.

From a quick search, Torley should have a copy of a tutorial, and also Chosen explains it in depth here ... But really, the only thing I think you're missing from the OP is... Set the INSIDE to black (or your outline color) and set the OUTSIDE to a completely transparent texture.

Thank you everybody for your help it was something I tried but didn't spend the time to research accurately. 180 + 180 positive or negative twists will turn the prim inside out!! (both twists MUST be positive or negative or it is a mess) PERFECT and such fun. Thanks again, now I will make my house from millions of bubbles that glow in the night PINK and Fluro GREEN! NOT anyway back to reality. Pretty much just wanted to do it more than anything
