difficulty making wings

I am trying to make wings... I have the alpha down fine and i made a mirror image of one wing from the other and put each on two separate flattened cubes of the right size for the avi. I put a third small prim in between making it small and transparent and linked all three up, of course choosing the small prim last. The only thing is, the images do something weird: They seem to flip over when viewed from the opposite side. No matter how I try to position the two wings, they never seems to line up right. Help!?!?

Thank you, Soulfusion

When you are in edit mode from the prims, (i'm trying to remember this off the top of my head bear with me) at the top click select individual texture, and then in the texture tab, where the repeats are, click flip, that should flip the texture and make it correct :)

Yes hun, you don't need to make mirror images, cos you can flip them over, when I make wings I only ever use the one texture, and use the flip option :) GOOD LUCK :D lemme know if it works :)

Willow,

Okay go the flip down. Still, why when i walk around the wings the image of the wings flips and they are not facing each other on the other side??

You have to select, select individual texture, or it will flip both textures at the same time, have you tried flipping both horizontally and vertically? Play around with the flips and see if you can get it to work?

All I do is edit them when the are linked and flip the texture over, I don't understand why this isn't working :(

Its so hard to explain when not in world lol

hooooo hooooo! Got it, thanks so much Willow =)~ so yea, made sense to me brain after that last post you left heh. is there a way to get rid of those partially visible 'black' lines that are really the lines at the edge of the prim the wings are textured on to?! I really appreciate your help!!

i got feedback and the lines are really bad... i put the x plane at the smallest it will go to using the cube..is there just a face i can attach this too? i also know when you put a texture on to a cube it textures all six sides, so maybe what is showing up is the image on that really thin face. ??

That's very likely... I've had the same problem when using textures of fences, etc. for building. I've found it helps to use the 'select individual texture' method mentioned above and put a completely transparent texture on those thin faces. If you need one, I have one that I can drop on you when I'm in world next, probably tonight. Hope this helps!
