As promised, I have added a detailed tutorial on creating transparent textures in Paint Shop Pro to the SLuinverse Knowledge Base - the full tutorial can be found here:

I updated the tutorial to include some steps to take if you are using the SL clothing templates, since they already have an alpha channel in them. Check out the end of the tutorial for additional steps to remove the original alpha.
