Questions on getting started with creating clothing

I'm starting the initial thought process on designing clothes to sell on SL. I'm talking with one of my friends on here about going in together on a shop where she'll sell the hair/flowers she's working on creating. I am a graphic artist in RL so I already have many of the tools necessary (Photoshop CS2) to get the ball rolling on creating custom designs.

At present, I have little to no experience with building prims that will work for clothing. Can anyone feed me some advice on doing this? Thank you. :)

Good luck with your venture but I doubt you need it.
You are already 5 jumps ahead of me if you are any kind of artist, they are the creatives who do most well in SL.
I build all sorts of things buy can only sell at the low end. Lots of people say they love my work but without artistic ability I am stuck down low. Even a badly built item with great textures looks and sells better than anything I can do.
You need to go to the "Ivory Tower of Primitives" to learn ALL about building and then practice some. Get some freebie clothes and reverse engineer them.

Clothes are mostly made with templates that paint the image on the avatar. Prims are sometimes used for skirts or collars. Shoes and other accessories are made with prims.

I recommend learning to use the templates first.

Then when you are ready for prim elements in clothes, go here:

Would it be weird for me to pimp my free product?
