I'm very excited... I made my very first piece of SL clothing!!!!! It's ugly as sin (didn't want to spend hours and hours on it and then find out it didn't work), but everything on it is where it's supposed to be, and it looks like it was supposed to on my AV.
I used Chip's upper body template, and the GIMP, using Tod's tutorial (which is awesome, by the way):

Just want to give a huge thank you to Chip, Tod, Robin, and everyone who posts ideas, suggestions, and help in the forum... you guys are awesome!

*smiles*

Gimp Rocks! Whatever you do, don't throw away your first attempt. You'd want to look back at it someday in the future for a few laughs. :)

I should note that with some of the versions in the past, with GIMP, exporting TGA didn't produce the proper transparency results all the time. (at least, in my experience)

A workaround for this is to turn off every layer but the one you are trying to save and merging visible on your own, or deleting the other layers.

Certain versions of Photoshop have too... for some people. I've been using GIMP for years (er... 6 or 7 of them) and haven't seen this problem.

Yay, I love the GIMP. Use it for all my texture needs.
