Hello clever & helpful people, Does anyone know - is it possible to upload a .tga file FROM Second Life TO one's own computer? Thanks, Xylo usually the word "upload" is used to mean moving data from your computer to another, and download to mean from another computer to yours but bac to your question, as long as the texture is full-perm you shoudl be able to save it, just double click it on your inventory and once the window for it opens you go on the file menu and the option should be there |

It might interest anyone reading this that its not possible to download a piece of clothing back to your hardrive even if you have full permissable rights. You can however download a texture.
If anyone is aware of a way to change clothing back into a texture please let me know ![]() |

If anyone is aware of a way to change clothing back into a texture please let me know ![]() If you uploaded the clothing texture yourself to create the item in the first place then it should still be in your inventory, unless you deleted it. If it's not in your inventory then there's no way to retrieve it from the clothing item. _____________________

... If anyone is aware of a way to change clothing back into a texture please let me know ![]() textures aren't "transformed" into pieces of clothing, what happens is you apply a texture to a pre-existent piece of clothing ther eis a way to turn clothes into textures, but it will blend everything includding skin, so if you want to more easilyl edit it you probably coudl have the av skin be a single color (ala chroma key), and is only avaiable with full perm stuff what you do is go to the client menu, character submenu, grab baked texture, and them select which part (somtimes it stays geryed out for no aparent reason, sometimes rebaking helps... |

Don't forget that anything that gets uploaded into SL (placed on the servers) as a texture is saved as J2C with lossy compressioin. What comes out is never exactly the same as what goes in.

Does "lossy" = "lousy" ? "lossy compression" means that to save size it looses some of the data, in this case it means the image will come out with less details and quality than when it came in edit: for more details check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lossy_compression |

Does "lossy" = "lousy" ? Lossy means in the compression process data is lost and the compressed version is not as crisp or perfect as the original. |
