Losing my mind with transparent textures.

So I know it can be done, because I have a couple examples, but I can't figure it out. A single prim with a texture on it, where you see the image on one side of the (flat box) prim but not on the other. Everything I've come up with I still see it fine on one side, but mirrored on the other side, and no amount of messing with the texture settings seems to work. Help!

Hmm.. not sure exactly the behavior you're trying for:

If you want the back face to be completely transparent you need to use a different texture that's 100% alpha. There may be one in your texture library, if not ask around for one, they're easy to come by. :) (IM me and I'll send you mine. :)

If the back face is mirrored the wrong way, try using the [ ] flip check boxes.

So if it's 100% alpha, how do I get a picture on the other side?

If the prim is 100% alpha it can be hard to 'grab' to edit... you can try ctrl-alt-T to hilight transparent, making it easier to select for edit...

in the edit window there's also a 'select texture' radio button ... you can click on a specific side to edit... or shift-click several sides to edit more than one at a time. :)

I have to be missing something here. It won't let me select a single side of the prim, only the entire prim to add the texture to. Am I crazy?

Well to follow, up, yes, I am ineed crazy. The word Radio Button took a minute to process in my head for some reason, but that solved my problem. Thank you so much.

Right on!

In normal situations you can just drag and drop a texture right onto the face of a prim as well, but knowing about the 'select texture' focus is required to be able to set different color,scaling,offset,rotation... per side. :) Happy tinkering! :)
