Hi,

JPEGs can't have alpha. Try Targa (.tga) instead. And when the option window comes up, choose 32bits/pixel.

Chie's right. Don't use jpeg ever. Put simply, it's the worst possible format you could pick. It doesn't support transparency, and it's lossy quality. Jpeg is really only practical for the web, where small file size is more important than image quality, but it's not a good choice for 3D work at all. For SL, use TGA, always.

I mention the same as above, TGA files can only produce alpha channels. I use for almost everything TGA :)

Yeah... the only time I've uploaded JPEG is when, well, the original image as I've found it was right off the web, and wanted to upload it in directly without any further tweaking.

We totally need a sticky in this forum that deals with alpha channels. Would help you all new designers out a lot.

If there was a published PDF and I was given permission, I'd give it out like candy!

another osgeld barmy's shamless plug for the gimp...

funny the way assumes if your saving in tga and the image contains alpha its most likley 32bit, damn opensource hippys, making life ez and free.

photoshop user? it reads psd files, and no mess with alpha? its worth the download to me
