I've noticed that I have white lines at the top and bottom of my transparent textures. I have verified that all other prim faces are set to an alpha texture. Has anyone else had this problem and, if so, is there a solution?
I do most of my work in Photoshop CS, exporting files to PNG, which I then use GIMP to save as TGA. I just read up on ImageMagick. I'll give that a try later tonight to see if that helps.

Textures in SL always wrap a tiny amount, so you might want to reduce the Repeats to .95 or so in the Texture panel of the Edit dialog. Or you might want to leave a few blank pixels at each side of the image when you are making it. (That's what I do.) But I'm puzzled; why are you exporting from Photoshop as .png, and then taking them into the GIMP to export as .tga? Is there some reason that you're not exporting the .tga file directly from Photoshop? (edited to use correct term from texture panel. I don't read 'em anymore. I just use 'em! )

I've noticed this too. Occasionally textures will leave an alpha "artifact" behind when they're converted from TGA to JPEG 2000. It's really annoying, especially for texture animations (since they happily wrap the problem). Your best bet is to use .95, as Robin mentioned, or if you're using a texture animation, leave roughly one pixel's distance between your animation frames. This is especially pertinent if you're using full alpha for animation loops. I'm also a bit puzzled why you'd be exporting as a PNG first. Just like the GIMP's alpha tools more?

From: Robin Sojourner But I'm puzzled; why are you exporting from Photoshop as .png, and then taking them into the GIMP to export as .tga? Is there some reason that you're not exporting the .tga file directly from Photoshop? Thanks for the info on the textures. I'll build a buffer around the image in the future to allow for a 0.95 Repeat value. I use GIMP, as the TGA output from Photoshop CS does not use the TrueColor format (I believe that's what it's called) and have no transparency in SL, when uploaded. Is there a way to get around this? ~Ulrika~

There are a couple of ways. One is to build an Alpha Channel to hold the transparency. I have a video tutorial about how to do that on my site here. The other way is to use a plug-in. I haven't tried it, since I prefer to make the alpha channel (control freak that I am, ) but you can read about it in this thread. Hope this helps!
