You can see in the attached photo "BaldEagle" that the alpha texture used for the wings and tail shows a thin black line along the outer edge. I can't see this line in the targa file it self, but but it shows up when applied to a prim. Does anyone know what causes this and how to fix it.
The work around I used to deal with it in the eagle was to adjust the texture repeats so the line is off the edge of the prim and you can not see it.

That's not just a workaround, that's the way to do it. That line is a normal result of texture repeat and interpolation of pixels; the videocard interpolates the texture edges to wrap around so that the texture can tile. Not all textures are meant to tile of course, but the videocard doesn't know that.

apply a transparent texture first

1. apply transparent texture to whole prim. 2. selectively choose sides to apply your image. 3. cross your fingers

From: Blaze Nielsen 1. apply transparent texture to whole prim. 2. selectively choose sides to apply your image. 3. cross your fingers Thanks, I already did that, so the line you see is not a texture displayed on the edges.

From: ArchTx Edo Thanks, I already did that, so the line you see is not a texture displayed on the edges. If you've applied an invisible texture on all the other sides, then It IS the texture being displayed on the edges. You can experiment by uploading a very small gradient texture and see how SL screws up the edges. The smaller the texture that you use, the worse it gets. What you need to do is simply to pad your texture with a bit more blank areas along the sides and let the blank area bleed into the edges you should be fine.

You might also want to check your master graphic on the very edges for stray pixels.
I usually enlarge the canvas size larger than the image and either erase along the very outer edges with either the erase tool or do a select and delete.
I usually redo the alpha mask just in case.
dont know if it will help you, but it has worked for me a few times.

What LeAnna does is what i do. Just have a transparent edge of a few pixels, oh say 5, and that solves this problem. And yes i've had the same problem. It's like the texture wraps around just a little bit.
