Hi everyone,
I'm just starting to design clothes and I was wondering if there was a way to get rid of the skin colored underside of pant legs. I've tried all sorts of things, but can't seem to fix this.
Know what I mean? Hopefully.

As far as I know, there is no way around this, unless you make your pants skin-tight.

I have wondered this myself. I have not made any clothes but notice this on the ones I have purchased.

As far as I can tell, it happens because the clothes aren't really clothes at all. They are just a texture applied to the AV.
In other words, they are special layers of "skin." So, when you specify loose pant legs, what really happens is that the AV polygons distort to that shape. It's not like pants; it's more like extremely swollen ankles and lower legs. (The same thing happens with loose sleeves, of course; "swelling" the wrists and arms.) So, whatever color/texture is on the ankles is going to be on the bottom of the pants leg. As Cid says, if you use socks to color those polys, then the bottom of the leg will be the sock color. You might try socks that end just below the ankle, and see if that will give you the appearance of pants and bare feet. I haven't tried it, though. It's just a thought. _____________________

Robin beat me to the "socks" solution. I haven't tried it, but you might try a full alpha texture for the socks and color them and see if that bleeds over properly. I've always been happy with opaque socks, but if you want barefoot with bellbottoms, you might give that a thought.

Thanks for everyone's very helpful responses. I will try the sock thing.
If not, at least I know I'm not a crappy designer and this is a known issue ![]() |
