Hi all. Is there a quick 1-step process to create an alpha channel from a regular layer that is black and white, plus grey for the transparent layers? I know how to create a channel from a selection. I guess I am trying to save the step of then selecting the grey of the main layer and coloring it grey in the alpha channel. Seems like there ought to be an automated process that creates an alpha channel from a greyscale image. TY Anna.

You mean besides just copy & paste?

Or am I misunderstanding you?

select the grey area, open channels, select the channel you have for alpha with the selection still highlighted, make sure your colour swatch is the grey % you want, alt-delete and it's the grey. (alt-delete is for Macs)
