The most irritating bug in the galaxy of texturing and gameplay! now... so i see its hopeless to ask lindens ingame for them to take a look at the bug but i guess they dont seem to care since ive asked them since release 1.8 and i havent had a single improvement Infact it only got worse.. for people who would like to know what i am yabbering about.. observe http://media.putfile.com/yayforSLand No its not couse i used an 800 primmed object as an example it does it all the objects that are more then 12 Hence why most of my creations are plywood.... The Bug is that if you texture more then 12 prims at once... texture wil revert back to the old one and then back to the new one and on and on Leaving behind.... a big deathlike rainbowy Mess This bug has been around since release One. Eight. 1.8.... i have in total amount informed 7 lindens about this and all told me they were going to look into it..... yay for nothing maybe we ought to take the "grid is down while we bash on things" serious for once couse i have seen less improvements and alot of useless new features that make the game run twice as bad as Half life 2 does on a del computer For your information linden labs Congratulations (clap clap) you have destroyed SL more then Sony Destroyed Star wars galaxys....... (might even get banned for that.....) and for all the people who wil randomly reply without thinking "it is probably your computer" i hope you die a horrible death and realize that i didnt give a hell about your comment!

The page you linked to didn't work for me.
Could you elaborate a little more on what exactly the problem is?
Thanks.

The page requires quicktime in your browser.
The bug is when you have a multi-prim linked object and you select it and go into textures and choose 'blank' or select a texture. Some of the prims change to the correct texture while others stay at the old texture or even worse they seem to fluctuate before eventually settling to either the new or old texture. This also happens if your try to recolor the prims. The only workaround is to edit individual prims. Quite annoying! I also hate it when my prim decides to revert to it's position and shape from a few minutes ago. I usually try switching sandboxes when these things happen but if it keeps happening I stop building.

From: Eric Boccara i hope you die a horrible death and realize that i didnt give a hell about your comment! What a great way to start a thread! Anyway, I don't really understand the point of this thread. Are you just ranting about a bug or asking a question?

Yes, the bug is annoying, Eric, but that's no reason to insult everyone and everything around you with such a crazy post. Whatever legitimate message or question you might have had is completely lost in all your needless ranting. So, congratulations, Eric. You've messed up this thread worse than Sony messed up Starwars Galaxies. You write twice as badly as Dell computers run Halflife 2.
Basic punctuation was taught in grade one. A period goes at the end of each sentence, not two or three or twenty, and all sentences must start with capital letters. You have been informed of this by a lot more than seven teachers, no doubt, yet the problem still remains. Yay for nothing, right?
Note, I didn't say anything about your computer. Should I still die a horrible death now?
Anyway, if you flip "apply immediately" on and off a few times, it usually catches all the prims. There's the answer to the question you didn't actually ask, how to work around the bug instead throwing a temper tantrum.

If you have an object with a lot of similar prims that you all want textured in the same way, it is a good idea to texture one first before you start copying. I have learned this the hard way by first building a plywood staircase and then having to retexture it step by step

It's still buggy imo. One solution I try to impliment is to not only select the desired texture I want to change whatever to, but to actually 'Open' the texture file by double clicking ( if it hasn't already decided to go sailing off somewhere else in the texture inventory scroll). I then Stop for 5 seconds, wait and then hit select once I'm certain the texture is going to adhese.
You may also have to consider what size of texture file you're working with for varying load times, any transparencies, etc.
Oh, and try to find as private an area to work in whereas extra avatars coming into your region can affect things.

Affter you hit apply, WAIT till the 'Multiple' overlay on the texture box disappears. OBVIOUSLY if it still says 'Multiple' it hasn't updated all the faces yet...you can see it happen in your little movie. What I do, just to be sure, is I click the texture box and apply again. With 800 prims and multiple faces per prims, thats a lof of updates to the historically slow and unreliable database. This method works perfectly fine for me when I'm retexturing 200 prim items, I just have to give it a minute to update the database, with higher prim objects such as yours it will probably take longer but just go take a pee or grab a drink I'm sure that how busy the sim you are building on will be a factor in this timeframe, either shorter or longer. Some patience will serve you well in retexturing high prim items. Now, I didn't say it was your computer so I guess I get to live.

um, was there a question in there? or was it just a big fat %¤#&%¤ to everyone in here? oh and for the record, SOE practicly destroyed SWG. SL is messed up, yeah, but its by far as bad as SWG ever got. as for your problem, applying the texture repeatedly will put it in place after a few clicks.

I think the most annoying bug in the galaxy is actually the splort beatle of Golgaria 9. Oh, you said "of texturing and gameplay." Never mind.
(I have nothing useful to add to this thread)

Bug
04-19-2007 16:53
This bug is horrible, but the worst part is that it happens to me even with 1 prim and I have reported it multiple times.
I create a blank box, try to texture it, and one face normally remains with the default texture.
I've had linked objects end up with 3 or 4 differerent textures.
Also, I've never played SWG, but SOE screwed up EQII pretty darn bad.

SOE and Sony at large view their consumers in the same manner as those bankers view small businesses in Capital One commercials.SWG was borked a month after it launched. It stands at the height of Borkification. Sony didnt care other than make money. SL actually does care, it just has subscriptions (some of which are lifetime) that it deals with. Being pissy on a forum board where you are supposively acting for help is a quick way to get ignored. And because I a: dont fear you & b: think you are a I will ask: did you check your video card. it could be that.

I had problems with Apply, too - would set a number of repeats, then Apply, and the thing would go haywire (setting 12,000 repeats, for instance.) I made an inworld Help Request, and may I say that all of the volunteers have been charming and helpful all of the times I asked for help, but that two Lindens Who Shall Not Be Named were actually uninterested, incomplete and even a little short of charming? One of these told me the texturing bug was due to my wireless connection, and then didn't want to talk about it anymore. I'm quite sure it wasn't. Anyway, what seems to solve the problem for me is to hit Enter instead of Apply. I never use Apply anymore, and I never have the problem anymore.

yea i hate it when LL blames stuff on your system, they told me something simmilar about my wireless eventho its a 54mbs g connection 0 packet loss and 95% signal strength
me thinks they confuse local wlan with starbucks wifi and maby even cellular
i finally got them to get over my wireless by doing a trace route and sending a screenshot of my connection making it tru my wireless ->dsl ->babby bell ->internet in less than 60ms and it taking well over 10 seconds when it finally hit a linden labs server heh
thats what i call a PITA sim reset policy

Well, at least you got them to listen to you....This particular Linden was uninterested. Not that I'd be hugely interested in people's connections 8 hours a day, but still.

A) I love that song.
B)To Thunderclap: That's a great way to express yourself. I applaud you.
C) Could that also be a network connection problem? That's a lot of prims to be updating at once and it's possible it doesn't all get through. I remember trying to move a house, it was too much info for my connection to handle.
