Hi I've been working for a couple of weeks on making a various clothing and hope to open a shop as soon as I feel what I make is good enough to be sold. I have read alot of the posts and websites but I think I am missing something or just not grasping it fully. I like punk and goth looks and the more classy dressy wear.
anyway. I am not grasping is lace shirts/pants or mesh. I use PS 7 find a nice lace pic. follow the steps on making a shirt. I have tried using greyscale, and other things to make the background under my lace pic not show. even using the magic wand and blacking it out creating the lace design.
transfer it to my alpha shows everything the way it should be follow steps. in Sl still shows as if im wearing an undershirt.
any help or a point in another direction would be great.

Are you saving the file as a 32 bit .tga file?
Is it just the lace that's not showing the alpha properly, or is it the whole garment? In other words, do you have the edges of the garment where you want them, but the lace is showing as white, or is it the whole thing?
If you could post some screen shots of your Alpha channel, and the garment on the AV in SL, that would help a lot.

if your lace is a fine pattern & transparent it might be the halo (which would fill in the transparency, again if its a fine pattern) check the post about White Borders for some more info

Also, make sure you are using PS 7.0.1, not PS 7. It's been covered in volumes here in the forum, but the alpha channel is not handled very well in the basic PS 7. The upgrade to 7.0.1 fixes that.

great thanks I'll post some pic's up. once I get home, but I think its something Im doing wrong I'm missing a step somewhere or not quite grasping or maybe its my PS I am having problems with just doing simple cutouts or removing parts of the clothing. Once upload it it still shows the white portions.
IE: I cute a hole in the top of a shirt for a dress, or put some tears into my bluejeans and the white still shows where it should be see through, once i put my template in.

Sounds like one of the following things has gone wrong; 1. You must make an Alpha channel (which you have done. ) 2. You must have exactly one Alpha channel. (If you have more, it won't work. There should be four channels with non-italicized names in your Channels Palette; Red, Blue, Green, and Alpha.) 3. You must upload as 32 bit .tga file (which it sounds like you are also doing.) 4. You must have a functional Targa.plugin file in the File Formats folder of your Plug-Ins folder in your Photoshop folder. If you have covered all of the first three, I might suspect the fourth. There have been some reports on this board of what appears to be a broken Targa plug-in. At the moment, we're awaiting developments on that front.
