I started making jewelery and other types of attachements to sell in my store and got to wondering how many prims can an attachement have? I mean, i saw some costumes that look like they were made of a large number of prims....

Just checking if anyone has any hard numbers on this question. How many maximum prims on an attachement and how many prims/attachements total on an avatar?

Thanks already for the info

thanks tipsy....

Wow! that's a lot, now i think i can let loose and really make funky things.

And that would mean someone could walk around with thousands of prims on his body? Would that make him long to rez?

I just find it a bit strange that you can have more prims on you than on your 512m2 land.....

I wear a minimum of 500 prims (neck up :p ) Adding in things like belts, bracelets or other jewelry and i'm sometimes almost 800 prims.

Tiny prims add up quickly :D

I have been told that I lag a few people who zoom in on me.

A linked set can hold up to 255 prims. There are 30 attachment points, so the maximum amount of prims you can wear is 7650.
Of course, that would cause massive amounts of lag and could even crash the server. I did it once, ask Kex Godel...

Sorry to nitpick, Eggy, and this is a real nitpick...to the point it's irritating, but the link limit is 256 prims (power of 2) and there are 27 attachment points, giving a grand total of 6,912 prims per avatar.

This is INDEED enough to bring a sim to its knees and topple it. If the sim doesn't topply, you will badly lag anyone looking at you for many seconds. Do some wild dancing and you'll definately crash at least your own client.

My tiki god avatars do this with their primtastic grass skirts and near link max limit heads.

I believe this is seldom exploited but you sure can make a hell of a detailed vehicle using up to the link limits on the pelvis and hip attachments (all very stable attachment points), then have your avatar sit down on a one prim vehicle. Many of us did such things for the SecondLife parade this summer.
