In the case of Multi-CH, it's been a bit of both. I started fast out of the block, then I ran into a problem with rendering the wireframes. I was only getting two out of three lines and it was driving me nuts. So I tucked it away.
Last week I got to thinking about Multi-CH again and working on putting up the repository. Only thinking about it, mind you. Then I got a note in-world from my #1 Fan. Talk about serendipitious. So I took a look at the wireframe code again and immediately spotted the wireframe problem. Ah, nothing like fresh eyes.
Multi-CH can now do wireframes. Unfortunately, it's all triangles and looks kind of messy - but still wireframes! Not as great as a vector template, but it works.
Mini-vacation soon and I'll have Multi-CH b5 for ya. I should even have time for a good start on the repository.
I'm planning on leaving Multi-CH in this state for quite some time. I do have some ideas for v1.0, but no idea if I'll try to realize them. At the very least, the cogs in the back of my brain are thinking about it.
I'm also planning on getting back to work on Bend This! during my mini-vacation. I do have the DevIL version working just dandy and it is awesome. Even wax the 3DS Max shaders and release them. If you make sculpties in Max, you can theoretically use Bend This! to offer a bumping facilities package in short order. I would love to do this. "Here is a sculptie hat I made. It comes with an occlusion render and TBN renders for bumping." Awesome. Or maybe ya got the savvy to do TBN some other way. That would be even awesomer.
The only thing that is going to suck about Bend This! is that I'm doing to do them straight-up from the provided meshes with only some cleaning. Will probably have to clean some shading anomolies when you get to working with them.

And somewhere in there I'll release a DevIL version of the reflection map thing.
Mini-vacation soon. Get busy, Abu.
