Hey all you PSP users! I'm in the process of learning PSP and making a tutorial for making SL clothing with it. I have 2 requests. 1) If you have been using it for a while, could you toss out a list of things that you think need to be included in the tutorial. 2) If you haven't used it for long and are learning as well, toss out some ideas of things that you would like to be included in the tutorial. Thanks in advance!

This probably goes without saying, but I'd like to see tips and tricks on lining up textures correctly, and also info on using layers in PsP.
I look forward to the tutorial!
Also, Princess, email me about PSP if you would. I have some info for you that you might be interested in. chrisrv2001@yahoo.com - Thanks.

I'm a long time PSP user; I've used it since version 1.
Here are a few critital things about makimg textures:
1. Use the vector tools whenever you can. This lets you make changes to lines and colors without having to do too much extra work.
2. Layer your stuff. I usually put the basic background colors as one layer, then any decorations as another layer. I will often have 10 or more layers of things in one image.
3. Alpha. Alpha channels are a pain in PSP. To make an alpha channel, you have to create a mask, then save the mask to the alpha channel. The alpha channel will then get saved in the saved file. Personally, I wish Linden supported PNG files, because PSP has an automatic export tool for PNG's that supports alpha.

I am trying to make a black dress with a part of it cut out. The edges are diagonal. I can't seem to get a straight cut without the jagged edges. I've tried feathering and antialiasing, but I'm not really sure what I am doing. This would help me out a great deal.

I can give you a ton of info on Photoshop - I've been using it for years and have taken a class in it... and I always keep on hand my Photoshop 7 visual quickstart guide. I'll catch you in world, Princess and give you the run down... There are alot of tricks and short cuts you can use while creating clothing.

*giggles* Thanks Jenn! But I'm good with Photoshop, I'm talking about Paint Shop Pro. I've seen so much demand for tutorials on the forums for it, so I downloaded a trial version and I'm learning it so I can make a tutorial for use with SL. edited to add: Did I really just turn down some new PS info?! Shit, definately pass me along the info please! I'm learning, but I definately have a long way to go.

I can help you out with the procedures, Princess. I've gotten really good at using layers, transparency, gradients, and using vector objects

Then when done, resample back to 1/3 size... and it would do a splendid job of softening. :> If it got fuzzy, then apply one level of the Sharpen filter and it would clean it right up usually. Don't know if this will work for yas, but it's a suggestion that has worked great for me in the past. just make sure you use resample, not resize.... resize doesn't compensate and will make images usually look as pleasant as mummified cold mashed turnips.

I'd love to chat with out about PSP, it's taking me much longer to learn that I hoped it would. I'll track you down ingame this weekend. And I checked your site, but the tutorials section just opens up a blank page, thought you might like to know.

Most of the tutorial links are blank because I just have not had the time to sit down and write them... There are however tons of sites and good tutorials out there for most everything one would want to know...Check out my links page and I have several of my favorites listed to give help and answer questions...I at the moment have about 500 meg of space on my server with only around 50 being used so if you wish to post Second Life tutorials to help , just let me know... Kudos to all the very talented people in SL and those willing to help others... Alix
