PSP 9 crashes when saving mask to alpha

As you may have noticed, I'm having a bit of a problem. When I try to save my mask layer to alpha channel, PSP 9 crashes somewhat oddly. I lose window focus and have to kill it from the task manager: The script output window pops up and tells me that there was an unknown error with the command MaskSaveAlpha. The session is pretty much screwed from that point, unless I was bright enough to save beforehand or am in a position to take a screenshot.

I've had this error before, and corrected it by making sure there was no antialiasing in the mask, and making sure there was nothing but transparency under the black part of the mask (kind of sounds redundant, doesn't it?), but that doesn't seem to be working this time around.

Does anybody have any suggestions? I'm stumped. O.o

Try checking for updates via the Help tab at the top of the PSP9 window. I remember having to update mine when i first installed it. Other that that, i would suggest re installing it. My alpha channel/mask works perfectly. I'm also using PSP9.

Reinstalling didn't help any, and it's been updated ot the fullest. Strangely enough, about the fourth time I'd copied everything to a new image and made a new mask, it worked. Persistance is the formula, I guess. But thank you for your suggestion. :)

Very welcome :)

The other thing i will say, is that PSP9 seems to have a serious memory leak problem somewhere. If you have it open and do alot of copy/pasting your clipboard gets bunged up.Empty your clipboard regular,i have found this to help with random freezes.Make sure you have saved all imaged first so you don't lose anything you may want to go back to.

Also having more than 5 seperate image windows open that are over 512x512 resolution within PSP affects performance,as does the 'Effects browser' feature.

Another thing i found helped is to minimise PSP for about 5 mins, this helps clears the memory issuse.

Come to think of it, maybe its just me not having enough RAM (I have 768mb),or even a processor thats to slow (I have 1800).

Hope the above helps :)
