Hey all...
I am looking for a poof texture. Kind of like the ones you see on the Christmas outfits. I have been searching a long time and even tried to make my own, with no luck.

Any help is a appreciated!

Thanks,
Lillyana

Hi Lillyana!

I beleive TRU has some of those textures.

If you'd like to give making your own another go, I can certainly post directions on how I made mine.

Best,
~Ari

Poof?

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by a "poof" texture, but Natalia Zelmanov posted a nice, simple how-to for making fur trim on winter/Christmas outfits about a year ago. It's kinda "poofy." It's at http://www.mermaiddiaries.com/2006/12/day-78-snow-bunny-and-fur-trims.html.

Ok...here's a quick "how-to" on the poofy making:

1. Make a solid sphere in the center of the page (I have the background set to black so you can see the details better, but use a new layer for the actual poofy).
2. Guassian Blur (10%) to soften the edges
3. Using the Smudge tool with a small soft brush (say around a 9, smudge strength between 50 and 70) go around the edges pulling outwards, and also pulling inwards.
4. Do this with several different sized brushes (I used a 5, 9, and 13 size set on full softness, or 0% hardness)

If that's not clear, or you're not happy with your results, let me know and I'll try to help :)

The amount of product requests on this forum in the last few days has really gotten out of hand. People, please resist the temptation to answer such requests here. At first glance, you might think you're being nice, but think about the consequences. What you're really doing is encouraging more misplaced posting. Today it's two or three, tomorrow it might be twenty or thirty. Before you know it, every forum becomes a shopping mall, and education becomes impossible. I've seen it happen to good forums before, and it's tragic when it does.

These forums are categorized for good reason. Please, everyone, do the right thing. When you see a product request here, steer the author to Products Wanted. Do NOT answer the question if it's not in the right forum.

Realize also that not all "requests" are legitimate. Some are actually veiled advertisements. A certain percentage of people will always try to see what they can get away with. Someone says "Where can I find ____?" just so they can answer themselves with an alt, and get a free ad out of it. If that kind of thing goes unchallenged, more and more people start doing it. It doesn't take long for a forum to get completely ruined. The only way to prevent that is to adopt a zero tolerance policy for misplaced posts.

I repeat, if you see a post that is out of place do NOT answer the question. Simply inform the author of the appropriate form, and leave it at that. If he or she is serious about getting an answer, he or she will have no problem re-posting in the right place. Most people will thank you, in fact. If the person bitches about it, then you know they weren't serious. Either way, you're helping everyone by discouraging the same thing from happening again.

We all need to be vigilant to keep our forums healthy. Please do your part.

Umm, Chosen, did you miss the part where the OP mentioned making a new original texture as an option, someone responded with an offer for help doing just that, and when the OP graciously accepted posted a handy tutorial that might well be useful to other forum members, and offered more in-depth assistance if needed?

Chill.

We're OK

I interpreted the words "even tried to make my own, with no luck. Any help is a appreciated!" to be a call for ANY help, including how to make the texture. That's why I posted the link to the method in Natalia Zelmanov's tutorial --- which, BTW, is similar to the method that Arikinui suggested. I understand your concern, Chosen, but I'd say the "how to" spirit of this forum was still intact.

Yeah, I did miss that the first time around. My apologies, everybody.

Hello Chosen.
I was looking for a texture so I posted here. Plain and simple. I find it quite presumptuous that you think I am looking for a hand out. I have been in SL for over 3 yrs and do not appreciate your post and I am not this type of person you speak of. I never ask for ANYTHING, and the one time I do, I get this crap. Get over yourself.

Btw, to all that replied ABOUT the OP, thank you.
