Hi, I am trying to create a house within Second Life and am having trouble with colours/textures. I have created a base (floor) for my house and want colour this base green on the top but leave the stone texture around all other sides as normal. Is this possible or do I have to create another prim to put on top of the base prim to colour it????

You can texture and color each face of the prim separately.
There's a button on the edit pane for "Select Texture" - click it then touch the face you want to change, adding selections to it, as usual, with Shift.
Also, if you want to texture one face you can just drag a texture onto that face.
