i have tried creating my own eyeshadow & eyeliner in photoshop & it looks good until i go to upload it. it is at this point that along with the eyeshadow & white background from the eyes down to my chin appears to attach itself to my texture layer. what am i forgetting to do in photoshop that is causing this to happen?

Sounds like one of the texture bugs in SL. I'm not sure though. You'd need to be more descriptive, or post a picture of what you see. To be absolutely sure nothing is out of place in your 32 bit TGA file, view it in an image viewer that DOESN'T support transparencies (like ACDsee). What you get to see by doing this is all the artifacts and imperfections in one glaringly opaque image that may be a little shocking to look at, but highly informative. I hope that helps. If not, it's still a good tool to use for revealing a lot of things like 1% opaque artifacts that you may miss in PS

I'm not pretty sure I understood your question. But what it appears to be is a problem with alpha channels. There are numerous tutorials teaching how to use them. Just take into account that, if you have Photoshop 7.0, you must upgrade (free) to 7.0.1 or higher. 7.0 is bugged on alpha channels. Ask me about it.. I suffered my first 3 months in SL because of it.
