I am just wrapping up a large furniture order (yay!) and would like to include copiable, modifyable cubes that can be used by the buyer to make rugs, if they choose, which would match the furniture. I purchased the textures though and want to be sure this is ethical. THere is no way to copy the texture from the objects, correct? Also, this will NOT be a freebie at the store, but an item given to a customer who placed a considerable order. This is ok, right?

The only way to do it would give them a really screwed up low resolution copy of it, but I'm not going to detail how. It would be known as a knock off though, unless they had the talent to retouch it, in which case, they'd have the talent to start from scratch anyway and wouldn't bother.

I don't see a problem with what you've described, but Ceera should be along shortly with her wonderful knowledge of copyright and should be able to enlighten us all further, if I'm incorrect.

If you were given the right to use the texture in your creations that you sell, I don't see a problem with it as the end user can not copy the texture out of the item (legally) and they can't make unlimited copies and give them away.

Often there are two prices for an asset: the price for single use, and the price for reuse in saleable items. Check with the vendor to see if your license covers your intended use. If not, you should be able to pay the difference to upgrade your license.
