I overheard two people talking about a plan to steal textures while visiting a friend. I' like some ideas about what to do with the information.

On behalf of all content creators, thank you.

If the alleged would-be thieves said where they were planning on stealing the textures from, the best thing to do is inform the rightful owner(s), so they can handle it however they see fit. If the textures are yours, then all you can really do is wait for those people to use your textures illegally, and then file a DMCA takedown notice with LL. If you want to pursue it further than that, take the thieves to court.

If you're wondering how to prevent theft, there's really no way to do it. Anything that can be displayed on-screen can be captured. (And please, everyone, let's not discuss how.)

You wait and watch, and you tell others (like the content creators) to do the same, privately (not in this public form). If they act upon thier alleged plans, then inform the content creator(s) about what is happening, so DMCA notices and abuse reports can be filed with LL.
