Always black sleeves

Hi, I just started making shirts today and I'm using Robin's template, but anytime I upload my images to SL, the sleeves (after the part I colored) are black. I think it has to do with the transparancy that I keep hearing about, but I'm not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you using Photoshop 7.0, by any chance?

If you are, download the 7.0.1 update for the Mac here or for the PC here, install them, and all will be well.

The Alpha is already in place in my template, so as long as you are using a version of Photoshop that properly saves the Alpha in the Targa file, you're set to go.

The other possibility is that you're saving as 24 bit Targa, instead of 32 bit Targa. The 32 bits are necessary, because the extra 8 bits are the Alpha channel. Without it, you won't have the transparent sleeves.

On the other hand, if you're using PSP or the GIMP, then I have no idea how to help you, I'm afraid. I don't use either of those programs. But plenty of others here do, and instructions are in the Transparency Sticky at the top of this forum.

I`m having problems too, I went to your website and followed thru the tutorial but I must be doing something wrong, I am trying to do colored shirts with black text and cant get the texture clear around the edges, can do white shirts fine.

Going to go try again. I too was using 7.0, just download 7.1. Glad I found this template though. I did make a few mods to be able to use this shirt in "jacket" form and it works great.

Hmm I still get the black sleeves, Atticus did you find what wa being done wrong?

I guess i`ll go through the tutorial again.

*Edit* I saved Robins original shirt as a tga and it did fine, all i can think is when i edited the shirt to fit the 'jacket' type i screwed something up, not sure what. Oh well, I guess ill just make white shirts.
