I know I've seen this and it's driving me nuts that I can't find it now! -->Box prims textured so that the edges look rounded. I believe it was Chosen who posted an image of a really excellent one he did. Search hasn't recovered it. I've been looking all over in-world too but I can't seem to find objects like this. I've got a vague idea of how it's accomplished and I don't want to actually copy anyone's technique if it's a trade secret, but a hint or example in the right direction would really be appreciated. I'm trying to recreate a friend's RL mid-century modern sofa.

You must create that effect entirely in the texture, work with highlights and shades. I was able to get the effect on a leather texture for a furniture set I made. I don't wanna spam with advertising, but the attached picture shows it well with the brown leather couch. That couch is made entirely of a few box prims. It's the texture that makes it look sort of round at the edges.

But it's hard work to get it right. That particular texture took me about a week before I was satisfied with the result.

Thanks very much, Paulo. That's just what I was looking for. Looks like a real challenge but you've pulled it off magnificently. As I'm not an artist, I doubt I'll have anything worthy of showing but this will give me a start.

your keyword is GRADIENTS :)

Play with gradients in photoshop and you will achieve that. A simple gradient on a squared prim can do *magic*

You might also be thinking of sculptured prims. People have been making them on the beta grid for a few weeks; they're coming to the main grid today, as soon as LL gets it running again. Although the sculpturing is done with a texture, it's not the usual sort of texture; it's a map of how to change the shape of the prim. Lots more info in the Building Tips forum.

Pompo--You said the magic word. I shall nevermore settle for the solid field of color. Magic indeed!

Shirley--I'm just barely dipping my toe in the can of worms that is sculpted prims, if I may be allowed to mix metaphors :) and frankly I'm excited and intimidated and exhilirated at the same time. And a little hungry. Maybe after a snack I'll look into all of this some more.

Thanks, everyone, for your help.
