hi all, ima builder and started drifting into clothing about few months ago. i've made some shirts and bikinis etc but when i try to make more complex textures it doesnt appear right in sl. example is from the nipple area to the side, if i draw in lace or a design it stretches in that area. ya i know its cause it wraps around there but some make amazing clothes and u see no stretching. i use photoshop 7 and was wondering is there somethink im missing or a program that can help this stretchin problem?

What really really helped me is advice I got on this forum, take the templates put them on your avatar wear them, photograph them and use this to compair where lines should fall..

The SL skirts are the worst... yikes..

ALso, get the preview program so you dont waste a lot of L$ in uploads...

Some areas on the avatar body stretch in wierd ways and there's nothing you can do about it. You just learn not to put detailed textures there. Avoid the collarbone-shoulder area, the region between the shoulder blades, the crotch, and a few other places where there simply isn't enough underlying structure to support detail or there's a lot of stretching as the avatar moves. My own big frustration is wide lapels, some of which are simply impossible because they are so badly distorted when an avatar moves her arms. Sometimes you can design strategic folds or shadows into your work so that the stretching looks sort of natural, but the limitations are always with you.
