I've just done a Forum Search for "texture organizer" and read (and benefited from) all the posts.
But the most recent discussion of organizers---which ones people like, tips and general advice--date back more than five months ago.
In Second Life, that's a fairly long period of time. Presumably there have been developments in what's now offered, and in what people now prefer to use.
So...any advice?

I think I must have tried half a dozen of them and came up with the one from Hippotech as my favourite.

Ah, thanks, I do appreciate those responses. I'd gotten a list of maybe eight different ones from all the threads--and I certainly won't buy them all, so any advice/recommendations are welcome.

I have some free texture palettes

I have gone through the same thing until I found two very usefull free texture palettes. One is full permed in wich I made some mods to for spacific texture sets, and the other is catigorized to lower the number of palettes I have. I can send you a crate with both types of palettes in it. You can make as many copies as needed, just rename the palettes to the texture sets in them so you can find them better. The instruction note cards are included in the crate and some preloaded palettes of thousands of free textures I found. Have fun with them, and don't hesitate to pass them around as freebies!!

From: Nina Stepford i reckon its still the same players in the game, even after 5 months. i use the opus organiser, although i also have used and liked the organiser from thinc. I'm with Nina on this one.... I've also used the organizers from both Thinc and Opus... I love the Opus one, the system I got included the 'texture sorter' etc and it makes the job of sorting through everything and keeping things organized so much easier...

This is all great info. Raymond, that is indeed a kind offer!
I may be away from the computer for a couple of days--I'll look forward to checking out these ideas. ^_^

Yes, I did have to be away from SL for quite some time, and am just getting around to unpacking the crate that Raymond Nightfire did indeed send---many thanks, Raymond!
I'm looking forward to gaining some HIGHLY needed control over my vast collection of textures...

I took a gamble on one of the cheaper alternatives and have been pleasantly surprised. I opted for the IOL Texture Organiser which costs L$490 has 50 configurable categories, is copyable handles sculpties and can be used as an object or a HUD. Full details can be found here; http://yaiol.blogspot.com/2008/04/texture-organizer.html
