If you are using the color picker in SL on prims that are textured what you are essentially doing is creating a color filter. If you have experience with color filters this is pretty straightforward and you can have good success as long as you are starting with a light color and trying to create a darker color. If you don't have experience with color filters, you will need to spend time experimenting. This is a have-patience kind of thing. Color is not as easy as you might think. There is reading you could do, but that doesn't make it easy, either.
Another approach is to make your own textures. This gives you additional flexibility (you can create any color you like), but color isn't easy starting from scratch, either. Fortunately, it is easier than filters. It will take some experimentation before you get an intuitive feel for what hue, saturation and color balance do. Here's a google search that will find info on creating hair textures in photoshop. If not photoshop, formulate a similar search for your editor of choice. photoshop "hair texture" Edit: When playing with the color picker, change one variable at a time, repeatedly, so you can see what each does. |

Shuya, are you asking about modifying your texture in SL, or locally in Photoshop?
