After about 2.30 hours to log in yesterday the first thing I did was uploading some new textures with alpha and test the alpha fix. Two weeks waiting for that, i had the chills.
It was not perfect but I did see some improvements. Despite in some angles the back textures jumped to the front, it was better. The composition looked OK. So I've spent some time doing some new stuff and guess what. Today I log in again, ready to take some pictures of the items and Surprise Surprise! The back textures are in front of the front textures again.
This is a very annoying bug. Did they rollback that fix or something? or is it just me going crazy? My dreams have load bars too now, so I guess I'm just going crazy.
%) cheers

Seeing as how this is a client-side issue, I don't see how it could be rescinded without forcing another viewer install. Just to be clear, are you referring to an alpha texture on a hollowed inner surface appearing in front of an alpha texture on the same prim's outer surface?

Well I've found out other things now. Regarding to your question, I mean a non-hollowed flattened cube with an alpha texture on both opposite sides, with the rest of the sides being transparent.
I've discovered that if I rez my linked feathers in a table or in the ground the feathers will look good. BUT if I wear this linked object on my head or wherever, the back feathers come to the front and the front feathers go to the back. It's just when I wear them that seems to be messy.
So It's OK if you don't wear the alpha channels. I'm kinda sad really because I'm not thinking of making furniture.

Ok, now it's ok again, like the very first time i've logged after the update! you wear the alphas and they look ok now!!!! it's not the day time nor the full bright. wow. i dont know what to say. so maybe i should just stay vewy vewy quiet now EDIT - Ok, it's just the way I'm turning after all. Facing East is ok, Facing West is not ok. I'm really sorry for all these posts, but since i started this thing, might as well keep it updated

Yes, this alpha sorting bug is highly irritating, especially since I wear nothing but feathers! ^V^ I was really hoping for a genuine fix this time. I guess we have to wait some more....

Still broken for me.

With my product, the texture (some parts transparent, some parts aren't) attaches to the HUD (not hallow at all) and cannot be seen unless the user detaches/wears it from the inventory, or relogs.
This is very annoying to me because it was working fine for two years until the previous update. Nothing I'm doing is fixing it.
I've logged this in jira, but there's been no response.
Anyone else come across this?
And if so, any ideas how to fix it?

I made a skirt last evening without any alpha at all and it did the same thing. I apparently has something to do with the windows in my wall that are alpha. Go outside and all is well. I think their fix is worst than before...........I've never had that problem before.

Do any of you notice fuzzy or blurred textures? i just tarted my tattoo business, and before the last update, everything looked good. now after the update a week and half ago, everything i upload it fuzzy or blurred to the point, i cant tell what some of the finer detailed items are. I talked to another tattoo artist, and she is having the same problem. I haope it is just me (which sucks) because i dont want to be selling blurred art that that cant be recognized

I haven't noticed the fuzzy textures. But this glich is very odd. It seems to affect different people differently.
I've noticed that not everyone has the same problem as me with the HUDs. Some people have no trouble at all.
There's got to be a connection somewhere....

Have to say, I am a tattoo artist myself and have not experienced any of your problems Trevor. Mine have been sl tells me the texture is not uploaded, but when I relog they are there in my inventory. Is all very strange and rather perplexing to say the least. Relogging every time I load a new texture is also extremely time consuming when I have dozens of new tattoos to upload. Am guessing it is just an sl glitch as it is better at different times of the day. Hope you get your problems sorted soon though.

It is quite possible that the texture(s) you used on the skirt have an alpha channel and you are just not aware of it. Did you make the texture? If so, did you export it as a 24bit tga, or 32bit? If you used a texture that you bought inworld, there are many that have alpha that actually appear solid, but if it has an alpha channel the glitch will appear. I've found many textures like that which have no reason whatsoever to have an alpha channel, rocks, marble, wood, etc. If I have full perms on them I will simply save them out, re-save them in ps as 24bit and re-import.

At first after the update I too thought there was an improvement. I was making ruffles on a blouse from hallowed cut cylinders. But then a couple of days later it seemed to start getting weird again. No other alphas in the view, and I think it was just as bad attached to my av or not. Today in the beta grid I was making hair with alphas and when worn at least it seemed as bad as ever. Could part of the problem be the thin edge sides of the prim that are all clear? Catch them at the right angle and they make everything behind disappear. But they have to be clear or it doesn't work at all. And it seems if you link the alpha prims to solid ones even the solid ones start to act odd.

As far as I know, the alpha bug is not an SL specific problem but rather will affect any gaming platform when alpha textures are near each other. It sounds like you have some sort of alpha texture on your avatar, whether you realize it or not. shrug, i could be wrong.
