Hi everyone :) Well I'm pretty new to SL and this is my first post to the forums (BTW, the game's EXCELLENT!) and i'm trying to make some money. It may be early days yet, but I have considered making clothes. So my question is... Is it a decent way to make money on here?

I have played another game that's similar, but no where as good as SL (not sure if i'm allowed to mention the name of it, but it begins with 'T' and ends in 'E'). I made clothes on it, and had a website and all, it was quite profitable! lol :P

Anyway, should I start up on my own or join someone else who is looking for people to work with?
If anyone is interrested please post bellow or PM me

Thanks for reading :)

Hi Alan, welcome to SL :)

Yes, clothing can provide a very good income, if you're prepared to put the time and effort in. You'll need the clothing templates and Photoshop / GIMP / PSP (probably similar to T***e, I dunno ;) )

You can find the avatar templates to download here

A couple of great tutorials using Photoshop by Nephi & Nicola here plus loads of help scattered in this forum.

Have fun! :D

Thanks Cailyn, I'll spend a few days fiddling about with adobe and see what I come up with.

Thanks once again for the help, infact everyone i've talked to in SL seems very willing to help out new people :)

Hi Alan and welcome to SL. I started in There as well but joined SL last November. I found the clothes in There expensive and difficult to produce coupled with the need to have everything approved before you market it.
I prefer the tools and flexibility of SL for clothes designing. Plus everything is so much more detailed.

I am sure it can be quite profitable, particularly for those who have a flair for design and can produce something unique, attractive and in demand. A wander around some of the stores in places like Aqua and Luna malls will show you the quality and range of prices.

There are templates to get you started in the downloads section. You will need Photoshop or something similar.

Hi Bobby,
Yea, i have Adobe PhotoShop and Jasc PaintShop Pro. I'm still not sure on where I am in SL as regards to towns and stuff (lol) I was at a great place last night; it was a 2 story building with a casino on ground and a night club disco on 2nd. There was a working lift LOL! It all fascinated me so much :P

Yea, it would be a good idea to go for a walk round some of the shops, hehe, I don't yet have any idea about the economy in SL.

This may sound stupid, but is there like a tourist office or guide place in SL that I could go to and get to grips with everything.

Its a good idea to use the FIND feature and in places try clothing or shops or mall etc. They will give you landmarks to quite a few popular places. Please feel free to IM me anytime in world and I will gladly give you a tour around of some of the things I know. I am in the UK so it's euro friendly times I am afraid :).
