I basically want to make some plaid dress shirts and I am wondering how exactly I should do that. I could just go and make them straight down but I really want them to be more open. If I make it like just a normal shirt people can just open them up but would it look right?

I really don't know... need some help. For men's clothing btw.

This is the tricky one best way is to draw/shape them as open..and then use the jacket template to hang over the pants..

If you let people use sliders you lose things like buttons

The biggest challenge will be getting the pattern to match across the waist seam. The horizontal distribution of the bottom edge of the upper body is quite a bit different than the upper edge of the lower body template.

This is one of the most difficult things to do with the shirt template, as Chip mentioned, because matching a pattern with strong vertical lines between the two templates is quite tricky. (I'm assuming by plaid you mean tartan, hehe).

I tried this once with a "plaid" pattern, and gave up as it was much easier to do with a more abstract pattern.

bbbB/ALL,

I was having similar problems, hooking up 'untucked/long' shirts and such.... I haven't figured out the search/archive in these forums, but just click on my name AND 'posts by this user'... I had some decent responses to the same question.

Best Regards,
EO
