I am trying to make some jeans. Now I have tried to rip them first or at least get a good base model. I was wondering if anyone has a good way to go about making jeans or what not. I am thinking now just rip the top part and then make the texture go down all the way. Then add highlights or shadows or what not.

Or should I just use the base jeans that they give us and just edit the colors in that? Also if there any websites that go into more depth then the basics tutorials I have seen. Mainly sort of texture stuff and hints and tips on how stuff should work. Or even downloadable templates to base work on.

This site has templates in the download section.

As for tips... well, it's as much an art form as a science. Off the top of my head, use the UV layer in the templates to help you understand how the seams work and how the texture will get warped. The preview screen before you import is equally as important in seeing how things will appear.
