Striped tops?

Even though I've got Chip's amazing templates that have made my life easier when it comes to texturing I still can't get the stripes on my tops to align properly. If there are any tips to this I'd appreciate anything given. I've found so many helpful posts that I felt it was a great place to ask such a question. I even appreciate the time it takes to look at this post!

As I recall, the scale of the fabric along the side seams on the front template and the back is slightly different. You may need to scale the fabric a bit on one or the other to get those stripes to match exactly.

I have tried making stripes by using the Halftone filter, but wasn't satisfied with the result. It's possible to do it that way. You'll have to nudge the ends of some lines up or down so as to avoid seams. I don't really like that method, but that's just me :)

I trace my stripes with vectors. I use a mix of Robin's and Chip's templates.
For each stripe, I start by drawing a rough rectangle that goes across the front and the back templates. I attach "pins" to the borders of the template, and tweak the rectangle so that the front stripe and the back stripe meet. The rectangle becomes a zig-zag.

I duplicate this zig-zag, and tweak it a little until I have enough stripes.

There's a catch, though. Horizontal lines will distort when you move. They won't look right on all avatars, either. Especially around the solar plexus. That area is a nightmare.

Here's an example, I'll take a better picture tomorrow so you can see the seams.

Hey they looks pretty good. I'm not as worried about the front and back I just want them to be matching along the sides. I'll try the tricks offered and hopefully that helps. I've got a whole line of tops that have stripes so getting this perfect will help. Thanks!
