Hey guys, gurls and furries...

I have constructed a platform at 600m and want to take a panorama I got off the Internets (lol) and have it wrap around my entire platform. I've already constructed the individual panels but they have yet to be textured.

The area is 60X80, thus I have 28 10x10 meter panels all the way around that must be textured.

The panorama is very high quality - 24,948 pixels by 2,820 pixels. The image is therefore also large - 5.74 Meg jpg.

So I'm not sure how to progress. I have a few questions but first, let me say what I'm going to do before you tell me to do it -

I'm going to resize the image and compress it because its current dimensions and file size is overkill for SL.

But now I'm not sure what to do next - do I chop it into 28 images and upload each one or do I upload a single image and then somehow "place" each viewable area on each of the panels so it looks continuous?

If I upload a single image, how do I adjust each panel to show the portion of the image I want to show?

Thanks all for your time and I apologize if this is covered elsewhere - and if so a simple link to it is appreciated. I Googled and checked the forums in advance but seemed to only find out how to make a panorama of a place in SL to be exported.

if you want all the panels to load in at the same time use 1 image

you can ajust them by editing the prim, clicking the more button, then the textures tab

on there look for 2 boxes for repeat, set those numbers as if you were going to chop them up in photoshop (or whatever)

ie if i wanted to chop 1 square into 4 squares i would use 0.5 in each repeat box

then use the offset boxes to adjust each prim to each part of the texutre

all that probably didn't make much since, but it might get you going in the right direction

Actually that made perfect sense. I just tried it with a sample image to see if I could distribute it over 4 prims - as in a square image covering four square prims. I figured it out doing that and am now setting about creating my panorama. Thank you very much!

Yikes!

One "small" problem...

When I uploaded the panorama it resized it to 1024X512 - no exceptions.

So... Looks like I need to chop the image into 28 pieces, each 512X512 and upload them each.

At least now I know the dimension limitations LL places on uploaded images.

All uploads will be in a dimension of 32, 64, 128, 256, 512 or 1024 in one direction or the other. No going above that. But you could use 14 textures that are 512 high by 1024 wide, or 7 textures that are 256 high by 1024 wide...
