Whenever I try to use photoshop and I try to make a texture I get all the white lines ect. I recently saw a thread about replacing a certian file in the latest photoshop to make it save properly but can't find it. Does anyone know what I am talking about?

You could do that but rather than alter the install of your program to fit SL's needs you should consider either;
- extending your base color of the texture well outside of the lines on the template (6 pixels is enough more if you want) and use the alpha to trim off excess - downloading the Solidify plugin which is free from Flamin Pear - filling the entire texture with your base color and using the alpha channel to trim off excess (variant on option 1 and a semi result of option 2) I use each of those depending on what I am trying to do. There are a few other techniques on the forums for that. Do a search and you will find a bunch on this including I think a pre-recorded action you could use to do it as well. |

Here's two great resources to help with the white halo problem.
/109/32/80851/1.html http://www.robinwood.com/Catalog/Technical/SL-Tuts/SLPages/TranspSL.html I also found a great one-step photoshop action that does all the grunt work for you, but for the life of me I can't find the original link....basically, with this action all you have to do is Ctrl-Click your layer, Shift-Ctrl-I to invert the selection, run the action, save at TGA. Maybe someone else knows where to get this action. |

Yes the "halo effect" has to do with color not quite reaching the border of your alfa cannel cut. This will not happen of the color is exactly on the edge of this cut or past it, but if it falls short it creates this effect. This often ocurrs when you have the antialiasing or feathering selected in your selection tool when creating your alpha channel, which will expand your "show" erea of the channel by a few pixels. So just paint outside of the lines and you sould be fine.
I have found that editing the alpha channel after creating it with a selection tool can produce a nicer shape to your boarder since the selection tool is sometimes a bit sloppy. Just use layer opacity so you can see the texture layer a bit so you can be sure not to expand the alpha boundry past the textures edge. I'm new to this as well, and these are my latest findings. I'm sure you will love to play with alpha channels after you learn their simple rules ![]() Happy Texturing! |

Hi!
The PS actions can be found on my site here and here. (Clicking on the links will automatically download the files.) The first one doesn't use the Flaming Pear Solidify filters, the second one does. I highly recommend using them; and you can find them on the Flaming Pear download page. They are part of the Free Plugins package, about 2/3 of the way down the page. I'm sorry that I haven't put a front end for those actions on my site yet. I need to do that, and will soon, but it's been a very rough few months for me, from about the middle of August until just now, and I am way behind in everything. Hope this helps! _____________________
