I'm new to SL and I kind-of want to try designing clothes. I downloaded Gimp (it's all I can afford) and I went to the Gimp tutorials, but they are a little confusing and technical. Is there anyone who works with Gimp who could meet me in-world some time and answer some questions and maybe work with me for a little bit? I especially need help with transparency and alpha channels. I have some really cool ideas for clothes, but I can't really realize them, yet. I'd be willing to pay for your time and effort.
Thanks a bunch!

PS- Please feel free to reply to this posting or IM in-world if I'm online, or if I'm not.

I'll be online in a couple of hours. I'm at my night class presently.
Alpha is really easy with the Gimp though. Simply open the Layers tab, right click the layer you want to add alpha to, then select "Add Layer Mask" in the drop-down list. You'll be given a list of options for transparency.
You may also add alpha by just using a layer with existing transparency (any layer but the canvas) and "hiding" all the others when saving.

I work with the GIMP extensively.
Please IM William Withnail if you want to discuss it. I'd love to encourage more people to use this excellent application.
To view my work, head over to "Withnail Estate West". My gallery is on the second floor.
