I am making some very basic jeans - nothing fancy just a simple .tga file
However when I make them into pants the cuffs on the lower legs appear to go up at the seams a if some mouse has nibbled an archway into them.

I tried some other makers jeans that seem fine. So I then used a copy/mod pair that were fine but when I added my own texture over them the same thing happens and the lower edge of the pants is all cut into odd shapes at the seams.

Any idea what i am doing wrong??

(i checked for invisiprims on my feet and they were not there)
(I redrew the texture and tried loading as as .png - same thing happens)
(I shouted obscenities at the computer screen - still no difference!)

That's odd. Cursing often works for me. :)

Pants with flared cuffs do sometimes have a odd, jagged look to them, but I gather that this is not what you are seeing. Perhaps we could tell better if you posted a photo (actually a link to a photo usually works best).

That's normal. Don't flare them as much, make them tighter.

Hmmmm... I can't seem to get access to that link, but I suspect that Argent is right. It sounds like excessive flaring to me too.

you can make it not look quite as bad by making the pants length 99 instead of 100

Oh, that's because he's flagged the page as mature for some reason. You unverified flickr n00bs can't get into the adult content.

Flares are pants anyway.

I believe you can also turn off "cloth" in the viewer graphics settings and that will get rid of any clothing movement. It won't get rid of the flare, but will eliminate another variable that changes the way the polygons morph.

That's the problem I had too.

So the "#" is what cuts through that filter? Nice trick. I never would have stumbled on that one. Thanks. :D

No, that was just part of my making it a link that worked on this forum. If that made it work for you, I have no idea why.

well after a nice nap and a couple of other experiments I finally changed the template i was using from the standard one (that seems fine for tighter underpants-layer-style trousers) to one that came from a kit where the alpha channel is much wider than the legs on the lower hem and it seemed to fix it! yaaaayyy!!!

(thank goodness as the swearing had reached fever pitch!)

thank you all for you suggestions...btw I have no idea why you can't see the flickr thing as it is flagged as green "anyone can see" - i think the internet demons are just against me today. I am going to cross myself with my mouse and anoint myself with holy screenwipe and see if that appeases them!)

just a FYI - on FLickr Petr suggested I lower the waist in appearance from 100 and when i set it at about 90 or lower (which still shows all the texture as they are not highwaisted) the seams on side did seem to drop - it was as if in rl someone had let out the waistband and the pants slid to a more natural position??!! weird but it worked so thought i would pass that on.

The flare happens when you go past the bottom of the leg template. Just stop a little above that and the pants will still look fine
