Ok I'm stumped. I've spent many hours making my first skin and the results are "ok" for a first attempt but I can't figure out how to get the eye lashes colored. I'm using Photo PaintShop Pro X2 and/or GIMP. When I draw them on they show up on the face part of the skin as just lines. When I shade the faces eye area under and over the eyeliner the lashes either show up as whiteish or very pail pinkish? When I DL'ed the SL eye template it was void of eyelashes. What am I missing here? Help!

There are a few textures found in the client side character folder (head_color.tga & head_alpha.tga) that show where and how the eyelashes look on a flat texture. Basically the upper right corner of the head texture is reserved for the eyelashes. Here is the head_color.tga file for a comparison of where the eyelashes are relation to the eyes within the head texture. Working with the default eyelashes is very limiting because there aren't many ways to change the shape or volume of the eyelashes in a realistic way. You are restricted by the head_alpha, which is used by the client to render portions of that area transparent. One alternative is to paint the eyelashes directly onto the area surrounding the eyes. In my opinion, the results are more realistic from most angles. If you do this you will want to reduce the slider for the default eyelash length to a zero setting. The default lashes will still poke out just slightly, but not very much.
