Not sure if this is the right spot to post this, but here goes: From what I can tell, clothing is really just a texture. Is there a way to make a shirt that has other prims on it? Or is that not possible and you need to use attachments for that? Example: a t-shirt that had a name tag on it that changed to your name when worn.

You could make a name tag that got the owner and used a display script to show up. But textures can't be scripted. Not in that way anyway.

Yeah, a scripted name tag is the only way to go. Of course, aside from the fact that a personalized name tag might be cool, it would be a bit redundant in SL. After all, your name is always floating a few centimeters above your head.

Make your t-shirt using the mesh clothing templates, upload them as textures (or upload image), and create them in the appearance mode inworld like any other mesh clothing item. Then create your tag using the building tools inworld....I would guess a cube would be the choice of building blocks. Apply your name texture (made off line with the same graphics software you used to make the t-shirt texture) to the cube and adjust the size to fit your avatar. Once you do that, name it and take it back to your inventory. Find it in inventory (it will be in your objects folder) and attach it to your avatar...........maybe one to "pec" locations. Then adjust to where you want it placed on the t-shirt. All set and done. Each time you wear the name tag it will go wear you adjusted it the last time. You're all done.
