Since a month I'm using the Gimp to make my clothes.
But I have a problem with the edges of my clothes.

I know you can fix this easly with PS, by making another layer below the clothes texture in the same color of the clothes, and then put a alphachannel on the layer with the clothes texture. This way the edge of the clothes are without a funny grey edge.

But how can I do this in The Gimp? I allready searched the whole forum but cannot find a answer. I found the how to's to create an alpha channel, but didn't found the sollution to my problem.

In the gimp I can't change the main alphachannel. And the alphachannel always show the alpha from all layers together.

I tried it with a layermask, but everytime I save the imagefile, it always takes the main alphachannel, and I don't want that!

What's the trick?

Hi fellow Cindy! :)

I don't use Gimp, but I would think the answer is similar to how this same problem is handled in Photoshop.

As luck would have it, I was looking for the same stuff for PS7 this morning, and of course our resident geniuses Chip, Robin and Chosen had the answers :)

Make sure your background layer is a similar color to the edges of your texture. The halo is usually caused by the edges being anti-aliased against a white background.
