I am interested in getting started with creation.
I am wanting to learn to make skins, clothes, ect.
Any tips on how to get started, I have no clue where to even begin.

Fading light, blurrng sight,

Heartbeat stops lungs give out,
Breathing stops as blood clots.

Eyes glaze in a bloody haze of the final days.

Six feet deep on the devils porch.

I'm exclusively a GIMP user. The concepts for a lot of tutorials cross over to it, but you'll have to explore to find out what menu options and such do the job.

Definitely take the time to read everything you can in these forums for a few days, and keep notes or at least pointers to things that look helpful.

Definitely take some time to become generically familiar with the GIMP. Groking the GIMP or GIMP: Beginner to Pro are both good.

Set a specific goal. For most people, clothes are easier than skin. Set some goal like making a Shirt and Pants combination. Start trying. Don't give up until you make some progress or learn something.

Darkpoet, there are a few Gimp users here, so feel free to ask questions! But definitely, start by downloading the clothing templates, either from LL, Robin (Sojourner) Wood, or Chip Midnight, or all 3 if you like.

Reading the stickies at the top of this forum is invaluable. I spent my first few weeks haunting this forum and reading everything I could find.

Also, SecondStyle magazine (www.secondstyle.com) has a great tutorial every month on something new. One month it was folds, another was buttons, another was mini-prims, etc.

Most importantly, PLAY on The Gimp. Play with all the functions and filters and script-fus and buttons and channel mixers and everything. Learn what your program can do for you. :)

And ask questions!
