You have to hide the layers in your graphics program that contain the lines.

if using photoshop make sure you have the layer called overlay turned off - (remove the eye from the layers tab)
The templates have the lines in 2 layers 1. Background - if u keep theis layer active (that eye thingy again) and have some transparency you will see the lines coming thru your textures. 2. Overlay - A low opactity layer that sits over all others so that u can see where things need to go when you "underpaint" your textures. Safest way Make a copy of the template PSD file work with that and then delete every other layer u hav except the one(s) u want. With ONE of photoshop's Targa techniques you can delete the background too and have your clothing layers semi transparent and this transparency will come across into SL too. This method is great and fast BUT info from layers can bleed into areas u dont want when saving the final image. Another Layer in the templates is UV Mapping (or Something) which can make cool clothing too as it displayed for u where the textures will band to fit the shape of the AV. Sounds like u are well on your way if u have managed to "Wear" your own clothes even though u have those lines. Good Luck and Have fun !! |

U and V are the letters used to represent the horizontal and vertical lines that form the grod across the model, just as X and Y are used to used to represent the horizontal and vertical lines of a 2-dimensional graph. In 3D space, X and Y are already in use, along with Z, for the global grid so U and V are utilized instead to describe the 2-dimensional grid that wraps around a 3-dimensional model. Knowing where the U and V lines are is extremely important in order to know how to distort properly the 2D images you place onto the template so they will appear wrap around the 3D avatar correctly. Save the UV map as a texture and place it on the avatar and you will see what is going on. Now you know ![]() |
