Is there a way to make a framed tinted(dark tint) window in PS? I have tried, looks great in PS, but when I save it to 32bit .tga, I loose the transparency, and it just appears grey where the window should be. Just to be sure, I tried to upload it, but it looked the same in the preview pane.
I am looking to just have a texture to use, rather than use 2 primms to make it in world.

Your "gray" area is possibly because you are working over a white background layer.

Make your frame on one layer and on the layer beneath it, add the window area in black. Adjust that layer's opacity to.. say... 50%.

Be sure there is no layer visible below these 2 and that you can see the pshop checkerboard grid thru the window.

Hope this helps...

when you save in PS is the Alpha Channels options checked in the Save As dialog window. If it greyed out , here is what you need to do. Select the area you want to be transparent or slightly. Then hit Shift+Crtl+I to inverse your selection. Now Click Window>>Show Channels. Now at the bottom of that window there is this little tiny tiny button looks like a square with a circle in it, click it. Now a new layer called Alpha1 will appear. All areas that are white will be solid and black will be transparent. Making this layer visible will put a red tint over your image but with this layer selected you can adjust the level of transparency buy using diffent shades of grey. Now when you save you should be able the check the alpha chanel box.

Also I read that there is a bug in PS7 and there is an update for it. But this should work in PS6

Right, I am familiar with alpha channels, and everything looks good up to the point of falttening the image. I do have 7.01(the updated version)
here are my steps:
1: create the frame on one layer
2: create the grey on a new seperate layer, slightly smaller than the frame layer(filled with black at 60% opacity)
3: create the alpha on this second layer(which also seems to show up in the first layer as well) Also, I don't seem to be able to adjust the alpha color when it is visable, it usally shows at solid black.
4: flatten the image(this is where I run into trouble), and save to .32bit .tga
After I flatten the image, I loose all transparancy,(shows the frame with solid grey in the middle). Tried uploading that, but shows the same in SL, no transparancey.
On time I did manage to get it, and it looked great in PS, but when I had it in the preview pane of SL, it was totally clear, even the frame was clear.

If you have more than one Alpha Channel also can be the problem visible or not. Everytime I had more than one Alpha the image was 100% transparent.

Try making the "Alpha Layer" one of the Channels, not just a layer. Select All, Copy, and Paste it into a New Channel. As long as it's the only Channel, that should do the trick. (You may have done this, but it wasn't listed in your steps.)

You should also be able to adjust the level of gray by using the Levels Output Levels slider. Just drag it to the right to change the darkest black to whatever gray you want.
