Okay, usually I don't have this issue but because of the texture I'm using horizontal and vertical lines, I am having a difficult time matching the patterns on the upper and lower where they meet. Usually I make the lower pattern about 20% less than the upper using pattern overlay. That doesn't seem to be doing the job this time and can still see a line between the parts. Any ideas how I can fix this? (Using Photoshop CS2)

Welcome to the dark and mysterious world of SL avatar seam matching. There's no easy or quick answer here. The best thing to do is to create a version of the outfit that has the UV lines showing. Wear that on your avatar, and take a look at how things line up (or don't line up) relative to those lines. Adjust your stripes accordingly in Phothsop, and then take another look. Rinse and repeat, until you get it right.
Alternatively, you could upgrade your Photoshop to CS4 Extended, and then you could paint directly on the model. But if that (or any other 3D paint program) is not in your budget, then all you can do is push pixels the old fashioned way until you discover the winning layout.
