Hmm. I'm trying to make some eyeshadow for my little avatar.. But, I'm having an issue with PSP 7, where I save an Alpha Channel, and lock it to a certain transparency, but I get a tiny white layer around it.. Kind of like there's a white background, behind the actual image. Any suggestions? And Thanks in advance.

I'm not as familiar with Paint Shop Pro, but this is a common issue with Photoshop 7. Are you actually using Pain Shop Pro, or was that last P a typo?
In any case, make sure there is no anti-aliasing between the opaque parts and the transparent parts. That should solve the problem. Also, if you are indeed using Photoshop, you may want to cinsider upgrading to 7.01b (free download for Adobe). You'll have to manually paint your alphas after the upgrade, but the white halo will be no more. |

I was having the same problem with my jeans. I was using the lower body template I downloaded from secondlife.com. I think the problem is that it was using the alpha from the original template. Delete all layers you don't need for your pants. Rename image. Then merge the remaining layers and create a new mask from your image and save as alpha channel. Then save the image to a .tga.
Hope this helps. _____________________

I was under the impression that you didn't need to use alpha channels with Photoshop 7. I haven't needed one yet.

Brad:
Makeup Example I threw together this little example which I hope willl help you. It sounds like you're wrangling with the dreaded halo effect. This happens b/c when your image is flattened and saved as a TGA the default background color is white, which means if there is anti-aliasing (i.e. the soft edges) on your makup alpha, it'll pick up some of the background color. To get around this -- make sure the background (bottom layer) of your image is the same color as your makeup. Let us know if you have any more questions. HTH, Nicola _____________________
