OK I've had this for a while and have just returned to trying to solve the problem. To cut it short.. I apply a glossy shader to my object in maya , light it etc , then mental ray bake it , load it into sl , and thats what I get , a BIG ass seam. I'm lost , I'm sure its something really obvious -.-. Hope to get some help asap Heres a image

Bare with me as I'm not a Maya or Mental Ray user, but maybe this can jog your memory before someone more knowledgeable chimes in. I bake all my surface textures in Cinema4d for the most part and every once in a while I forget a thing or two such as making sure the material is set for seamless as well as tileable. Another one that sometimes catches me is in the bake settings themselves, for example in C4D there is a pixel border setting that by default is set to 1 which I usually have to increase to 4. I believe Abu posted before (forgive me if it's someone else) that in SL if you offset the texture very slightly in the horizontal (bottom two settings areas in your texture tab of the edit box) the seam will be less noticeable.

Can you post a rendering of your scene, so we can see what it's supposed to look like? I'm not sure what I'm looking at.

Hey thanks for the quick replys , I'm sort of stressing here haha. Casper I'm not sure where in Maya I would find those options might be called something different but I'll have a delve. Chosen : In Maya you don't see the texture render , only when I upload it into sl , your looking at a mental ray glossy bake thats supposed to be on the WHOLE object but it has only seemed to bake half with a ugly seam going through the whole thing. Hence one side is perfectly baked and the other isn't.

I'll repeat the question. Can you please do a test render of the scene, not a bake, so I can see what it's supposed to look like? I'm really not sure what I'm looking at in the picture you did post. I've got a few theories about what MIGHT be wrong, but without seeing what you're actually trying to do, I have no idea which one, if any, might be right.
